Just when I think he understands

Just when I think my boyfriend is beginning to understand he makes a comment that is dripping with transphobia and misunderstanding. And it HURTS. And he doesn't understand why it hurts.

ANd then it hurts because he's not making an effort to understand what affect his words might be having.
